Being safe on the water, whether you’re paddling in a creek, in the ocean, or maneuvering through whitewater, means knowing how to recover from a misstep or accident. We offer two sessions on rescues.

Rescue

Rescue I

Knowing how to get back in your boat after capsizing is absolutely necessary. This simple yet often-neglected skill could literally save your life. In this class you will learn how to reliably rescue yourself or another paddler.

  • Class length:  3 hours
  • Class size:  2-5 people
  • Class cost:  $65.00/person

Rescue II

Because we paddle in a variety of conditions and can face several rescue scenarios, there are numerous rescue techniques. In this class you will learn appropriate rescue methods for specific scenarios and conditions. These techniques include: 

  • Scramble, or cowboy
  • Paddle float re-enter and roll
  • All-in
  • Bow rescue
  • Shaft rescue
  • Hand of God
  • Scoop rescue
  • Using a sling
  • Towing
  • T-rescue variations
  • Class length:  4 hours
  • Class size:  2-5 people
